Up In The Air With Mojo & Pottery

Hello Friends!

A few weeks back a couple of my pals and I went to The Hot Pot Studio in Red Deer to try our hand at pottery, a new to me craft.

We had a great experience there and Laura, the young lady that works there was extremely helpful!!  I am sure I was the biggest pain in the butt, asking a gazillion questions and she patiently and knowledgeably answered all of my questions.

I learnt that adhesive burns off in the firing process.  That's when I knew I would be able to incorporate supplies from my craft room.  I had to go back and try it again but before I went, I die cut  Impression Obsession Butterfly DIE008-I and Butterfly Set DIE046-A with only clear contact paper.  I used them as a mask before painting the plate with ceramic paint.

This is what I did.......
~I adhered the clear contact butterfly die cuts to the plate and painted it with the blue glaze with several coats.

~Let it dry in between coats, which only takes a few minutes.

~Sanded it it down in a few spots to give it a different shade of blue.

~Using my piercing tool I pulled off the clear contact paper. Any glue residue will burn off in the process of firing it in the kiln.

~I love The Hot Pot Studio !
Once you have painted your piece, you leave it there and they dip it in the clear ceramic glaze and fire it. Just pick it up 6 days later. Easy Peasy!!

This is another thing I learnt while I was there.....pencil markings will also burn off in the firing process.  So if you are like me and have zero drawing talents you can trace your die cuts on the pottery instead of using clear contact paper as a mask and paint them with ceramic paint or glaze after tracing.

~  This plate is now dishwasher and microwave safe.  My photography skill are once again lacking.... the color is actually almost navy blue and I have some glare from my kitchen light in the photo.  I will be trying this again!!  Oh the possibilities!!!

I should have used the same butterfly die for the card, oh well. I am happy with the look of the Fancy Butterfly DIE059-N  on the card front.

Here is a peek at the inside......

I made this for Impression Obsession's Up in the Air Challenge and the layout is Mojo Monday sketch 294.

Glad Grad Girl

Not my best coloring job by any means but it is what it is!  This cute little digital image is by Mo Manning you can find it here......Mo's Digital Pencil - Glad Grad Girl.  She is all colored up with Copic Markers.  This post is all about what not to do~LOL  See her gown and how it looks a little blotchy....this is from adding to much ink at once.  So learn from my mistakes, slow down and cut back on the caffeinated coffee or red wine, whichever the case may be~Giggle.

Copic Colors Used~
Skin~E000-00-11-13, R20
Hair~E43-44-47-9

I very lightly added some clouds on the white cardstock with Tsukineko Memento summer Sky.  They are very subtle and my camera didn't pick it up...again. The label has been die cut a second time with silver mirror paper and cut in half and adhered to the back top and bottom on the back of the black label.

I have had a busy week and am off for the weekend to watch a sweet young friend graduate in Provost.  I will be back Monday to catch up on what you have all been up to.

Watering Can Scene

 Hello Friends!!

Impression Obsession's challenge this week  is "I am thankful for........"
Well, I am thankful for so many things, my family, my friends, life and so much more!  However today I am most thankful for heat and beautiful weather!  Last week it was snowing!  We were still wearing our winter woolies and today we had a record heat day with the sprinkler on for the kids to play in.  I could actually sit outside and color and image.  YEAH!!

I colored up this fabulous Watering Can Scene with Copics and kept the card very simple. I added a wee bit of Stardust stickles to the butterfly and flower centers.

For The Brilliant Grad

Hello Friends!

I love it when a card comes together quickly!  This is a graduation
card for a brilliant young lady that is dear to my heart, using her school colors.

I really like this set from  JustRite by Amazing Paper Grace called Just The Right Words!  I stamped the perfect sentiment for the occasion in Memento Tuxedo Black.  I mounted the sentiment over a Spellbinders Shapeabilities Frame One and embellished it with some My Favorite Things Mini Rolled Roses Die-namics as well as some greenery made with Martha Stewart Punches.  I used my stylus to add some veins to the leave and sponged some Memento Bamboo Leaves ink over them. I added some pretty rhinestones to the centers of the roses.   I finished it of with a piece of scrap card stock rolled up and tied with some scrap ribbon and a Maya Road pin.  All in all a pretty simple card to make!

Cali Girl

Hello friends!

Today's card is a Hannah Lynn digital image called Cali Girl.  I can almost smell the ocean breeze when I look at this girl. She is all colored up with Copics.  She was pretty fun to color!!

Copics used~
Skin~E0000-000-21-11 -cast 34
Hair~E40-42-43-44
Eyes~YG11-E59-Sepia Multiliner
Dress~R81-83-85

I am an avid hoarder and save just about anything I might be able to use on a project. Yeah, it has been suggested that I need help before. However, I only hoard in my craft room so I think I should be okay~giggle  This was an old piece of a necklace from way back when my kids were young enough to still like junk jewelery.  It was pretty tarnished so I used my Memento Rosebud reinker and mixed it with Tsukineko Frost White All-Purpose Ink and dabbed it on the butterfly with a sponge dauber.
